Support Juneteenth

We need your help and would like to thank all of our donors for making our first Annual Celebration in 2019 a huge success.

We need your help and would like to thank all of our donors for making our first Annual Celebration in 2019 a huge success.

Our 2nd Annual outdoor Celebration is cancelled due to COVID19. Instead, we will hold our Juneteenth celebration virtually on Friday, June 19th from 7pm-9pm Live on facebook (“like” our Juneteenth RI page) from Musicfeen 81 Richmond Street, Downtown Providence. In concert with our virtual event, we will have voter’s registration in front of Musicfeen from 5pm – 9pm.

For the first time in Providence, RI’s history, or that we can recall, the Pan African flag will be raised at City Hall in recognition of Juneteenth and the fact that since 2013 Juneteenth has been a State holiday.

Next year, on Saturday, June 19, 2021 we will celebrate our 3rd Annual JUNETEENTH RI celebration and parade right here in Providence, RI at the Roger Williams Park Temple to Music.

We want to continue celebrating our struggle, our independence and our heritage. In order for this to happen, we need your support to cover all costs (Park Fees, Security, Audio Technician, Marketing & Promotions) to make even the smallest event possible.

WHAT IS JUNETEENTH?

Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America.

***Juneteenth RI Celebration 2019 ❤🖤💚

God deserves the credit first. From day one I started with prayer. 🙌🙌

I made a promise to myself and us (secretly) that we will never go another year without celebrating US! I prayed y’all! From day one doors were opened. The black community should be proud. You guys showed up and showed out!!!! After 2:50pm all I saw were streams of people hugging, kissing, babies playing, dancing, laughing, eating, and converSATING! I’m crying as I write this because I’m happy.

Thank “USE” 😳😳
