DINA L. BRUCE

HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD

DINA L. BRUCE was born and raised in Providence RI. She is the daughter of the late John H Rollins known for his community involvement and role as a City Councilman for many years. Dina is maintaining the family tradition of community service through the work she is doing. After working for 8 years at the Providence Center with men and women in a Dual Diagnosis Treatment Facility. Dina began working at OpenDoors in January of 2021 as the Program Manager of the Men’s Emergency Shelter. Since then she’s been promoted to Deputy Director and has been instrumental in the opening of the first Re-Entry Focused Transitional Sober House for Women in the State, The Pawtucket Warming/Emergency Shelter, the Kent County Shelter at Motel 6 and most recently the OpenDoors for Women and Children Shelter.

Currently through her management and oversight, OpenDoors has been able to provide shelter to over 300 clients.  Her hard work led to her being the recipient of The Sister Carol McGovern Memorial Award from the Coalition To End Homelessness in 2023.

Aside from Dina being the Deputy Director of the OpenDoors , she is also a Peer Recovery Specialist, and  sits on the RI CoC Board of Directors . She is an active member of The Commission to Reduce Recidivism in the Female Inmate Population as well as a member of  the RI Reentry Alliance.
